brig 'Aeron Vale'

 

1881 - The Nautical Magazine v. 50 [1210] [499] published the following entry within 'Our Offical Log' : -

1062. Aeron Vale, brig ; built at New Quay, Cardigan, 1860 ; owned by Mr. J. Griffiths and others ; tonnage, 201 ; Penarth to the Brazils ; steel rails ; foundered at sea, June 6, 1881. Inquiry held at Cardiff, July 23, 1881, before Jones, Judge ; Forster and Castle, N.A. Casualty due to the vessel being overladen and unseaworthy. Master in default for omitting to see that the vessel was seaworthy before leaving, and also for neglecting to make for a port of refuge when he had the opportunity. Certificate sus pended for six months.
