The total number of coal shipping tips is 15, of which Nos. 1, 7 and 14 are abandoned, the reason being that they are in too close proximity to one another.

The present siding accommodation in the dock area is for 2,500 wagons, with accommodation for 1,000 wagons outside. Extra sidings are being laid, together with additional facilities to Nos. 6 and 8 tips. This really means additional tip roads to same. New marshalling sidings are to be situated under the cliff, which are being constructed to expedite the existing marshalling arrangements to the various tips. The extra accommodation here will provide for 100 wagons.

In addition to the foregoing a repairing siding is being constructed to accommodate 22 wagons.
