The object of the scheme is the acquisition of scrap iron, steel and other metals made in the demolition of obsolete steamers and battleships.

The option of an admirable site has been secured, having an area of 3 to 4 acres. The Wharf has a frontage of over 500 feet, with 26/27 feet of water alongside at O.S.T. It is centrally situated, is connected with the Main Lines, and at a very little outlay can be well adapted for this class of work. The maximum rent, rates and taxes have been provided for in the following estimates.

Plan of Site : The site being the former Iron Ore Wharf situated on the northern embankment of the River Ely.
