2024 - Cymru am Byth - During my visit to Flatholm island during March 2024, I came across this artwork on the wall of the pub which exemplifies the spirit of the island in its rôle of defence of the South Wales ports, etc! I just adore it's simplicity and the thought that Yr Ddraig Goch would be there to defend our Land of Song and Coal and Iron and Brain's Beer against all those potential French and German intruders!

I once drove Klaus Lange, the managing director of a German company from Flensburg, to view a recent saw plant installation at Workington on the Cumbrian coast and as we drove through the Lake District, he leaned back in his chair and sighed. I asked what was wrong and he said; 'It's no wonder that Hitler wanted this country for his own!' Thanks to all those wonderful people who stood up for democracy, he and Hitler went home empty handed! Cymru am Byth or 'Wales for ever'! |
