Cardiff Castle.

Cardiff Castle - The original home of the Cardiff College of Music and Drama founded in 1949. I had 20 minute trumpet lessons there once a week with Cardiff born, Mr. Ivor Bosanko, during the early to mid-1960's, gaining my Grade 8 in trumpet in four years from the start thanks to his inspiration and guidance. Mr. Bosanko was an eminent professional trumpet player and at that time the bandmaster of the Canton Salvation Army Band in Cardiff. In 1975 he moved to the US and became a renowned SA musician and composer. Another heritage postcard view held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20230227]

Cardiff Tattoo - 'The massed bands, preceded by their three Drum Majors and the Regimental Mascot who is such a favourite with the public, beat the retreat at Cardiff's ancient castle, which dates from 1093, though the earliest part of the existing building is late 12th century. Colour photograph by G. F. Heiron.'  Another heritage postcard view held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001] [20230227]

A retired regimental mascot goat used to reside at the rear of a house on Murch Road, Dinas Powis, under the care of one Mrs. Giles' daughter during the 1950's -  I used to tentatively feed it grass as a child but those long, sharp, horns always scared the hell out of me!

May 27th 1948 – HRH Princess Elizabeth II visit to Cardiff. Scene at the station with regimental goat kneeling. - The story is that the goat had been trained to kneel and a photographer had his camera ready and primed whilst other professionals fumbled! I have it on good authority that the photograph was taken by Press Photographer, Mr. Bernard Fitzgerald. The image is Courtesy of the Royal Welsh Museum. [1147] [20230227]
