The Dingle, Alexandra Park, Penarth.

The Dingle, Alexandra Park, Penarth. Coflein states : 'Alexandra Park is a public urban park in the heart of Penarth. The first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1878 shows the area as fields between two wooded dingles. Development followed the opening of the railway station in 1878 and in 1883 a footpath down the southern dingle from the station to the beach was laid out by the Windsor estate. Further paths followed and footbridges were built across the dingles.' [071]

The postcard is is post-marked July 1906 and illustrates an original wooden bridge across the northern dingle situated above the Esplanade Hotel. The postcard is held within the Penarth Dock Collection. [001]
