The following text is taken from Appendix A - Details of Illustrations:
This figure is based on the same original as figure 15. The overall outline originates fro a 1:2500 Ordnance Survey map and the swing-bridge details come from a 1:1250 Ordnance Survey map.
As already has been mentioned the details of the sluicing arrangements come from Plate 15, figure 7 of Vernon-Harcourt's book. This only showed details for the inner end of the lock and details of the outer end shown in the figure have been derived from those of the inner end.
Note that the gates are shown with top decking in place thus obscuring the curved front face of the gates. Also note the size of both aprons has been estimated since these are not included on the original illustration.
