Flat Holm - the outbound voyage!

The outbound voyage! - It started from the barrage and all was calm until, as we approached the island, a swell arose which turned a lovely young lady a really funny green colour! It spoiled her day, so, I conclude that the trip is probably not for the average landlubber on even a mildly breezy day.

The experience, witnessed in the above photographs, brought home to me the statements made throughout my historical research of Penarth Dock and the Ely Tidal Harbour that it was a sheltered location, leeward of Penarth Head - this being especially important for the protection of sailing vessels against the forces of heavy seas.
