The unprecedented success of this magnificent boat soon induced the company to consider the advisability of a further addition, and before the expiration of the year an order was given for a duplicate to be built, but with increased engine power and minor improvements.
The new steamer " Cambria " was completed in May, 1895, and proved to be a remarkable product of engineering skill, being the fastest passenger boat of her size afloat. In addition to building the P.S. " Britannia, " a sister boat to the " Cambria " and " Westward Ho ! " but with increased dimensions and engine-power, Messrs. P. & A. Campbell Ltd. purchased other steamers as occasion required. In 1911, the " Lady Ismay, " a fine new saloon steamer, was built for the Company , and another new boat of similar build with increased breadth, called the " Glen Avon, " was introduced in 1912. In the year that war broke our (1914) the Company had specially built another steamer similar to the " Glen Avon, " called the " Glen Usk. " |
