Cabot Tower. Brandon Hill, rising to a height of 250 feet, has an area of about 27 acres laid out as a public park. On its summit stands the Cabot Tower, erected by public subscription 1897-1898, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by the Cabots.

Returning by Upper Belgrave Road, or across the Downs we reach the Zoological Gardens.

These were opened in 1836 and occupy about twelve acres. The ornamental lake, on which motor boating may be enjoyed, the well-kept lawns and flower beds, and the fine array of sub-tropical plants, ferns and hollies are notable features, while the collection of birds and wild animals is one of the most extensive and representative in the country.
