Volume One - Into the Victorian Age - Some newspaper reports from the 1870's

1873 - At Penarth churchyard, Cardiff, a tomb-stone bears the following inscription : -

"In memory of Thomas Howell, who after a faithful service of 92 years as clerk of this Parish, died Mar. 1, 1825, aged 102 years."

A person named 'Roath' commented : 'Parish clerks at ten years old are not of every day occurrence!' - January 1873 - [776] [499] - Bye-Gones, 1871-3
