Cardiff-An Illustrated Handbbok - 1896

The Cardiff Illustrated Hand Book with its handsome leather binding was published in 1896 and provides us with a detailed account of the Penarth Dock and Tidal Harbour, its facilities, trade and prosperity near the close of the 19th century. [247]

It was written by Samuel Thomas who was the Superintendent and Dock Master of the Penarth Docks, working for the Taff Vale Railway Company. The handbook was produced to commemorate the Cardiff Fine Art, Industrial and Maritime Exhibition of the same year.
