P.S.Ravenswood leaving Penarth pier

The vintage paddle steamer of the P & A Campbell's White Funnel Fleet, 'Ravenswood' leaving Penarth pier (top left) possibly taken during the same season that Clive Spencer served on her. [306]

Of 1891 vintage, the 'Ravenswood' had, for a considerable time, been the veteran of the Campbell's White Funnel Fleet. Her master during the 1952 season was Capt Gunn, of Newport, Monmouthshire. He was a young man, most likely in his thirties and so, everything bearing an equal strain, he should still be around. If he chances to read this then I would wish him all the very best.

The 'Ravenswood's' running mates comprised the 'Glen Usk', 'Glen Gower', Britannia' and the post-war beauties 'Bristol Queen' and 'Cardiff Queen'. The Welsh ports of call were Newport, Cardiff, Penarth, Barry and Swansea.
