s.s. 'Arethusa' - Report of Survey for Repairs, &c. for Arethusa - 15th March 1878. This vessel was built at the yard of Palmer's Shipbuilding & Iron Company Limited on the Tyne at Newcastle during 1875. She was of 1,841 Gross Register Tonnage and her Port of Registration was London.

The report of survey was undertaken at Malta and which included these two photographs which are held within the Historic Photographs Section of Lloyds illustrating the extensive damage to the vessel. She was a few years later surveyed at Penarth. The upper photograph is negative number C3312 and the lower C3313.

The vessel got ashore on a reef on July 10th 1877 and was floated-off on the 28th. She was then brought into Malta harbour and lifted upon the hydraulic dock for repairs.
