Volume Twelve - Pre-Victorian to the Present Day - further aspects - The Bristol Channel District Guide - selected articles - [1934 Edition] . . . .
The bay beyond Barry is Porthkerry Bay, with its famous pebble beach. It would be hard to find a prettier background to any bay in the Channel than Porthkerry Bay with its railway viaduct. Leaving Rhoose Point, with its flat rocks, the western point of Porthkerry Bay, we pass Aberthaw, noted for its limestone. Lime made from it is held to be the best in the world, and to be almost equal to cement. The loose wall-like cliffs are formed of this limestone. |
