	The Brian Colquhoun & Partners survey report of 1991 provides us with a number of detailed drawings which are interesting records of the route of the subway, its relation to the Portway marina and the complex geometry of inclination and curvature of the subway path. How they achieved this feat of engineering is quite extraordinary given the technology of the time. Truly amazing!
	Not being able to resist a challenge and in order to understand more about the engineering design aspects of the subway, I decided to model the subway using our company 3D CAD software. The valuable information produced by Brian Colquhoun & Partners when they project managed the draining and survey of the subway during April 1991 is the detail used as the basis for my parts and assemblies.
	I intended to undertake some structural analysis of the subway just to show you how good the Victorian engineers actually were but Martin got excited and produced a rendered image of the subway first! Upstaged again; he's just a big show-off you know!

As engineers, Martin and I not only design things but have to be sure that they work safely in their installed conditions and for the defined lifetime of the product.
