Penarth Dock, South Wales - 150 years - the heritage and legacy
Penarth Dock, South Wales - the heritage & legacy . . .

about . . .

Volume Eight - Pre-Victorian to the present day - more aspects - Moments captured in time

Stormy Esplanade , Penarth - The cameraman and his tripod were at a similar level to the wash, so I would have thought it would have been a cameraman with wet feet who took this photo sometime around the turn of the 20th century.

Penarth Head - Another of those painted postcard views which portray Penarth as an idyllic seaside resort a whole world away from the stench of the working classes and the industrial revolution.

The Italianate Gardens and Brass Band concerts - A 1930's view of the promenade and the gardens and my part in brass band concerts there during the summers of 1966 and 1967.

The Seawater Baths - I used to swim there and when we finished, before the Western Welsh bus arrived there was time for a 'Jubbly' from the kiosk at the pier and then perhaps a 'Thayers' ice cream to follow.
