Volume Nine - Pre-Victorian to the present day - even more aspects - Cefn-y-Wrâch . . . The Sailing Directions for the West Coasts of England and Wales [618] published in Washington during 1939 describes Cefn-y-Wrâch and the approaches to Penarth Dock : - 'Cefn-y-Wrach, a bed of stones about 800 yards in extent, lies east-ward of Penarth Head. Its western side and part of the drying ledges which extend off Penarth Head have been cut away to form a channel to Cardiff Docks. The Orchards are two patches of drying mud and stones, lying near low-water line about 1¼ and 2 miles, respectively, north-eastward of Penarth Head. |
