Those who saw the war-scarred and drab-coloured steamers of the gallant Bristol fleet when they returned gathered some idea of the strenuous times they endured in many waters after leaving the old port. At the end of the 1919 summer some of the fleet resumed the pleasure sailings of the " good old days, " after the skilled hands of the shipbuilders and the delicate touches of the decorators had eliminated, in a large measure, the many honourable, wounds of war. |
