The c.1920 O.S. map modified to show the Ely River Subway and route of the former ferry reproduced from a report on the condition of the subway by Brian Colquhoun and Partners for the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation dated May 1991.
   

Penarth Dock with ships laid up in the early 1920's. By that time there were said to be 122 shipping companies based at the port of Cardiff.
